I've just checked out The Ghoul thanks to Reap's heads-up!

Not top-tier Cushing by far but enjoyable enough.

One of Cushing's films that I haven't seen is Land of the Minotaur. This film always gets rubbished whenever I've read or heard about it. You would have thought with Cushing, Donald Pleasence, Jane Lyle and Robert Behling (the latter two appearing together as the twisted, murderous couple from the former video nasty, Island of Death) appearing in it, this would be a cult favourite. Is it really that bad?

Short answer - Yes!

It just doesn't work. The Script is deadly dull, they failed to utilize the Greek setting and the script is really tired. Cushing and Pleasence really are all the film has going for it. Under this title the film is heavily censored to boot. It was released by Crown International Stateside and cut by nine minutes to afford a PG rating by Crown themselves.

It's slightly better uncut with the additional nudity and gore intact under it's UK title of The Devil's Men, so if you want to watch it go for this version.

Thanks to this thread I've embarked on a mini quest regarding Cushing's filmography.

Has anyone seen The Naked Edge, and if so would you recommend?

From reading up on it it does sound rather good.

I can honestly say i've never heard of it.

It does sound pretty good though. Into my Amazon wishlist it went.

I presume that's the version released on to DVD by Odeon Entertainment, as it goes under the title, The Devil's Men.

I think it's a 15 cert. The other version is PG at worst.

Cheers, Demdike. I don't think I'll bother forking out for it. I'll see if I can watch it for free.

The weird thing is all this talk is making me want to watch it again.

I no longer have The Devil's Men version just Minotaur on a couple of Mill Creek sets.
