Are you watching 'The Fog' tonight, Mr. Dike?

One hundred years ago on the 21st of April, out in the waters around Spivey Point, a small clipper ship drew toward land. Suddenly, out of the night, the fog rolled in. For a moment, they could see nothing, not a foot in front of them. Then, they saw a light. By God, it was a fire burning on the shore, strong enough to penetrate the swirling mist. They steered a course toward the light. But it was a campfire, like this one. The ship crashed against the rocks, the hull sheared in two, masts snapped like a twig. The wreckage sank, with all the men aboard. At the bottom of the sea, lay the Elizabeth Dane, with her crew, their lungs filled with salt water, their eyes open, staring to the darkness. And above, as suddenly as it come, the fog lifted, receded back across the ocean and never came again. But it is told by the fishermen, and their fathers and grandfathers, that when the fog returns to Antonio Bay, the men at the bottom of the sea, out in the water by Spivey Point will rise up and search for the campfire that led them to their dark, icy death.

[bells ring distantly]

Mr. Machen: 12:00, the 21st of April."

Thank you. I actually hadn't forgotten this time. I put it on the calendar following my viewing of the new restoration at Christmas. How sad is that?

I've got Body Bags on an italian dvd (label is Medusa I think), and the only time I've hadit before is on a timecode when it was on rental vhs.

Does anybody know about the censorship history of this movie?

I've read that the uk timecode was "uncut", but this italian dvd is pretty gory, obviously I can't compare the 2 as the timecode was binned years ago.

Any help or even a link to an article would be most appreciated,

Thanks!

The DVD version is a severely cut version of the original Pay TV release, eliminating a lot of the more violent and gory images.

The English VHS Tape from "Polygram" is 100% uncut. The "4 Front Video" Version is cut (Bill gets crushed by the car scene).

There are two French DVD's from the label "Aventi" and "Prism Vision" are uncut.

The uncut version was released in Australia on VHS from the label "The Home Cinema Group" with an R rating.
