I reviewed that a while ago, not bad but very obviously American style with no hints of the changes to come - Road to Fort Alamo

Also reviewed his other two Westerns, Roy Colt & Winchester Jack and Ringo del Nebraska.

Roy Colt and Winchester Jack is the only Bava western I've seen so far.
A western with a lot of comedy that I enjoyed.

Cool

Got love for Bava, HATCHET is a great example of his eye for cinema(I like his weirder look at things and use of colour, LISA AND THE DEVIL another cracker, and don't even think about not liking BLOOD AND BLACK LACE, crumbs, I may as well post his whole filmography(apart from SHOCK, which is to me not so good, looks far too much like Jr's work to me) along with Fulci all you have to see is the surname to guarantee some Italian fun.

What has Four Times That Night done to not get a slot in the poll.

A great sex comedy.

Just a couple more Bava reviews left and I will have completed the entire oeuvre:

Today's is his amazing horror film Operazione paura (1966) which is a must see for all gothic horror fans.

Thanks for the link but a couple of days early! I have now finally completed my 4000 word Mario Bava biography.

Plus new reviews of Lisa and the Devil and its horrible exploitation re-edit House of Exorcism.

I've only seen two of Bava's films:

Black Sunday - I didn't really care for it, but it did have the right atmosphere

Blood and Black Lace - Atmosphere and style were both great, but I just felt like something was missing. I might watch this again sometime over the weekend, and hope it clicks this time around.

And to complete my Bava review series - Shock.

Which means I have reviewed every one of Bava's directorial efforts (except the Franco and Cicco comedy).

I think BLACK SUNDAY and BLOOD AND BLACK LACE are two of his best films
maybe you would like RABID DOGS aka KIDNAPPED, BLACK SABBATH, BAY OF BLOOD et al?
