I love Bava's films. His films are like paintings, all that deep colour. They're also brimming with atmosphere.
I love the following;
BAY OF BLOOD
BLACK SUNDAY
BLACK SABBATH
SHOCK
RABID DOGS
BLOOD AND BLACK LACE
PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES

The following I like;
THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
LISA AND THE DEVIL
HOUSE OF EXORCISM
WHIP AND THE BODY
KILL BABY KILL
BARON BLOOD
FIVE DOLLS FOR AN AUGUST MOON

Okayish;
HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON
DANGER DIABOLIK
I VAMPIRI

Some of the posters below sum up his films perfectly.

Bava senior's films are something special no doubt, and his work helped me get into, appreciate, and love Italian horror cinema.

My favourite is probably Bay of Blood (which is possibly my favourite ever slasher too), but I also have strong love for Baron Blood, Black Sunday, Blood and Black Lace, and Kill Baby Kill.

He seemed to bring something special that was lacking to the genre at the time, and as a result his work has been emulated throughout the decades.

I Vampiri is actually a Riccardo Freda film, but Bava's influence is pretty big in this one.
Same for Caltiki btw.

I've got about 25 films he either directed or worked on. He was a genius!

I'll follow suit.

My personal faves:

Shock
Baron Blood
Black Sunday
Black Sabbath
Kill, Baby Kill
Blood And Black Lace

and Planet Of The Vampires

The above all worthy of repeated viewings!

Bava titles i enjoy:

Rabid Dogs
House Of Exorcism
Lisa And The Devil
The Whip And The Body

and The Girl Who Knew Too Much

Certainly not time wasted watching these aforementioned efforts!

Imo average Bava below:

Bay Of Blood
Danger Diabolik
Hatchet For The Honeymoon

and Five Dolls For An August Moon

The above definitely viewable more than once but not umpteen times over!

Never seen I Vampiri yet and i've noticed how nobody has mentioned Roy Colt And Winchester Jack, Four Times That Night and Dr. Goldfoot And The Girl Bombs (didn't Bava direct this one?).

Let's face it we generally only associate Bava with horror and nothing else!

I liked Roy Colt And Winchester Jack, funny Spaghetti.
I haven"t seen the other two yet.
I just started watching Le spie vengono dal semifreddo (Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs).
Apparently Bava didn't like doing this one but he was under contract to do it?
The first Dr. Goldfoot, directed by Norman Taurog, wasn't that great either btw...

Who has seen Caltiki - il mostro immortale (1959) btw (which Bava made together with Freda)?
I think it's a lot better than The Blob (1958).
It's incredible what Bava (who was fx man, cinematographer and director here) did with the small budget.
According to Imdb:
"Riccardo Freda would later claim that he abandoned this project so that Mario Bava, who he knew could be a good director, would have a chance to direct."
Here's some caps.

I've fancied seeing Caltiki:The Immortal Monster for years but i've never been aware of any DVD release.
