But the best transfer, anamorphic, (and the one with a few extras) is the new R1 DVD. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bad-Lieutena...6935996&sr=1-2 But if you are not sure and just want to give it a try get the lesser quality UK DVD as it's much cheaper. Whereabouts are you in Stoke on Trent by the way? I'm in Hanley! |

Yeah, the region 1 version of Bad Lieutenant is the best one to buy as it has been remastered I think and has a commentary with Ferrara aswell as a few featurettes ('making of' stuff).

Genuinely nasty little movie but brilliantly filmed and superbly downbeat in tone. As 42nd says, the UK DVD is now uncut (the video was detoxed by Mr Ferman). I prefer the unremastered fullscreen UK print for its grittiness though the R1 is certainly far better extras-wise. Incidentally the differences between the US unrated & R-rated prints are here. |

Keitel puts in a powerhouse performance, arguably the best I've seen, and trust me,it's not easily forgotten....

Superb performance, the bit were he decides to shoot the radio is always amusing though.

I cannot and will not ever forgive Jimmy "Hypocrite" Page for ruining the soundtrack to Bad Lieutenant. It adversely affects the whole film IMO. Hence why I have the full screen laserdisc and no intention of ever buying a DVD of it. I keep meaning to copy the laserdisc onto a DVD, but haven't gotten around to it yet. |

Not as amusing as his full frontal naked-whining-shuffle.....
