Enzo Castellari

After the glorious experience of Cold Eyes Of Fear (can't stop thinking about it! I loved it!) I think it is about time I investigated this man's work further. So, I've started this thread so you can recommend his stuff to me!

I've seen Keoma (and still have the Aktiv VHS) and Cold Eyes... but that is it, so far as I can recall!

Go!

I love Castellari! Keoma is one of my all time faves.

Movie's worth checking out:

Any Gun Can Play - Pegasus
The Big Racket - Blue Underground (avoid the uk disc it's cut)
Bronx Warriors*
Bronx Warriors 2*
Eagles Over London - Severin (comming soon to uk from Optimum)
Heroin Busters - BU
High Crime aka The Marseille Connection - 23rd Centruy (bootleg)
Inglorious Bastards - Severin 3 disc ed
Keoma - Argent R2 UK DVD Slightly cut (4 secs) but worth getting.
Street Law - BU
The Last Shark - AWE
The New Barbarians - Shameless*
Some Dollars for Django - Cest La Vie R2 Credited to Leon Klimovski but actually directed by Castellari
Tuareg The Desert Warrior - Westlake R1 (Bootleg)

*Comming from Shameless

Good man, Loopster! Knew I could count on you!

I'm certainly liking the sound of the Westerns...and who could resist The Last Shark?

Pete 16th November 2009 11:07 AM

The Last Shark is brilliant! You can get Any Gun Can Play in HMV for £5 but the quality isn't very good.

There are a few more Castellari films on DVD (i havent seen these ones though):

Johnny Hamlet - Koch R2
Kill Them All and Come Back Alone - Wild East R1
Seven Winchesters for a Massacre - Wild East R1
Sinbad of the Seven Seas - MGM R1

Great list loops.

Where can I get High Crime (i guess a decent version of this isn't coming yet)?

Pete 16th November 2009 11:19 AM

I got mine 3 years ago in a charity shop for £1, i havent seen it anywhere since. I think there is an english language Japanese DVD.

Most of Castellari's films are enjoyable.

Really? I just fell in love with it. Hard to explain, but it did it for me in a HUGE way! Like in a right-up-there-oh-my-God-where-have-you-been-all-my-life way!

I suppose I was expecting more sleaze and violence....:o
