Perhaps the film was tweaked following test screenings. That is what they are for. I went to one for The Big Lebowski ages before it opened in cinemas. |

No idea, because i never went to see it again and it was the days when home video releases came months and months after cinema screenings.

People just didn't get it back in the day.I certainly remember first seeing it on a chopped CIC Video rental and thinking wtf was that all about?

Yeah, I was so excited about this being shown. They showed it before the Videodrome/Shivers premieres. Romero also talked about Dawn which they used as an intro a few weeks later. This doc is on the Arrow blu ray.
