It may sell more copies as it doesn't really look like a giallo sleeve. No knives, blood, women in peril etc. It also markets itself well saying "Academy Award Winner". Finally it has a punchy tagline to boot.

Not actually seen the film yet though

I don't dislike the cover, it''s just not something that should be used to promote Giallo. More suited to an action film with Jason Statham or even Cuba Gooding Jr.

Having not seen the film, i don't know if that is a suitable cover.

It would be fine for The Card Player.

I think the best cover for The Card Player would be a big steaming turd with a King of Clubs poking out of it.

It's a shame esp since the original poster was so spot on

Last night I watched the BU Blu of The Stendhal Syndrome and I have completely reappraised it. I always liked it, but now I think it is a far more important film in his canon than I had previously realised.

It stands out as very different to his so-called classics and I would easily rate it alongside Deep Red or Opera or Tenebrae, possibly even a bit higher. It strikes me as more film noir than horror and is a fascinating idea and story let down only by occasional bouts of dodgy acting (but surely that is the tale of Argento's whole career?).

Perhaps it is because it isn't especially like his other films in mood or theme that it isn't rated higher by most? It has certainly won me over.

Don't think the UK cover will last long as did Adrien Brody not ask for the U.S. release to be pulled from the shelves so his picture could be taken off the cover down to pay issues.

Great film, but that BU disk has to be the worst print i've seen on blu so far.
