From 'Deep Red' to 'Phenomena'

All great films. Before that, he was finding his feet. After that he kinda lost his way

In many ways I think he was a victim of his own early success. Influential to many, who took his style and themes for their own and left him playing catch up with his own genre. He obviously has burnt many bridges with independent film financiers and no one seems keen to back him with the sort of budgets that would get rid of cheap cgi shots and rushed production schedules.
Make Them Die Slowly and Wes like this.

Yep, dreadful. I mean, I don't even follow him anymore...

I can't believe we haven't had an English-language Five Days of Milan yet, it's a really good movie...

Agreed. With the current anti-Argento climate in full swing I can't see Criterion running to grab it for a blu ray remastering! I think Argento needs to secure the rights to a strong thriller book / screenplay. Work with a firm producer and reset his creative outlook.

I'd be intrigued to see what he could do in the realms of TV outside of horror related product.

I have a theory that bands and artists have a finite time to say what they want and when it's gone, it's gone forever. Just a theory and there are always exceptions, but I can't see an Argento comeback happening at this stage. Whatever happens, there will always be the God-like genius of Inferno and y'know what, I could live with that...
