I haven't read the interview, but he's no need to worry. It'll disappear into obscurity very quickly.

He also says that the film he was supposed to be making with Iggy Pop has run into difficulties as well!

Ordered Synapse's release of TENEBRAE.
Be interesting to see what it's like compared to the Arrow re-release.

Im pretty sure any horror fan knows its a bad idea, we dont need Argento to tell us
Only and only good thing with most remakes is it brings back attention and gets the original noticed, BUT then again if its only film watchers and not fans and buff, chances are they watch the remake think its good (give their head a shake) some friend will blag their head to watch the original only for them to say, not surprised they remade it it's shit.
Films will always be remade and have been for years, but it just feel like every film in existence is getting remade/sequel/rebooted/or a tv shows, i mean how on Earth could you possibly remake films like Videodrome is beyond me.

I own that, it's pretty good. Worth picking up to complete an Argento collection, it's good fun to see Argento taking an onstage bow at the finale.

Here's my list of Dario Argento projects in order of preference. First, the 19 theatrical films:

19 - Dracula (2.5/5)
18 - Giallo (2.5/5)
17 - Mother of Tears (3.25/5)
16 - Two Evil Eyes - The Black Cat (3.5/5)
15 - The Card Player (3.5/5)
14 - Phantom of the Opera (3.5/5)
13 - Sleepless (3.5/5)
12 - Phenomena (3.5/5)
11 - The Five Days of Milan (3.5/5)
10 - Trauma (4/5)
9 - Cat O' Nine Tails (4/5)
8 - Four Flies On Grey Velvet (4/5)
7 - The Stendhal Syndrome (4.5/5)
6 - Opera (4.5/5)
5 - Tenebre (4.5/5)
4 - Bird With the Crystal Plumage (4.5/5)
3 - Inferno (5/5)
2 - Deep Red (5/5)
1 - Suspiria (5/5)

And his television projects:

4 - Masters of Horror - Jenifer (2.5/5)
3 - Door Into Darkness - The Tram & Eyewitness (3.25/5)
2 - Masters of Horror - Pelts (3 .5/5)
1 - Do You Like Hitchcock? tv movie (3.5 /5)

I enjoy all of his work bar Jenifer, Giallo and Dracula. Those I save for very rainy days. As for the Suspiria remake, Claudio and Dario Argento were the ones who sold off the rights so it seems a bit hypocritical for Dario to complain about it.

I read through the entire thread and I had a few thoughts about some of the posts made:

My understanding is that Argento disowned Giallo because after shooting had completed, the producers took the footage and edited it together without any input from Argento.

The German blu-ray of Sleepless is censored due to violence. The Austrian blu-ray is uncut but out of print so it would take a bit of searching to find a copy. PQ is pretty good, a big step-up from dvd.

I think that Julian Sands gives quite a hammy performance in Phantom. Luckily watching it in Italian fixes that issue. There's quite a nice German bd which should sway opinions on the film. It suffers a little from black crush but is still recommended. Sound is Italian only (no English) but it does have English subtitles.

lol That moment in Mother of Tears has quite a significant effect when viewed at the cinema. Unfortunately it has to be seen on the big screen to properly appreciate it.
