Bruno Mattei misunderstood genius or hack?
 

After watching The Other Hell last night i was wondering what is everyones personal opinion on Bruno Mattei? Is he a misunderstood genius or hack?

That scene in the other hell,where the baby is thrown into the pot and retrived by the nun,its sooo obviously a doll,and mattei just doesnt hide the fact with a close up of the dolls face,partially hidden by the nuns hand.And as for zcf,well we all know what we think of that one.Feckin hilarious.:rofl:

To be honest,i'd rather have a mattei flick than a franco one any day.;)

Let's be honest here - who else could have taken the script for Hell of the Living Dead and made it half as entertaining as it is? Bruno's a genius. Nuff said.

Wasn't the script for Hell Of The Living Dead meant to be some kind of unfilmable epic though?

I've read that the producers brought in Mattei for his reputation for cutting corners... and cutting corners he did.

Bruno Mattei movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. So what if they're low budget drek that have no bearing on logic, movies weren't meant to be logical.

Rats, Emanuelle in Prison, The Other Hell and Zombie Creeping Flesh, Mattei's movies are great fun even if they are silly.

It's obvious the guy is a hack, but that does in no way detract from how purely entertaining his films are :D
