Just a bit of fun Humphrey Humbert fans! :tongue1:

I've seen several Lenzi outings but until i fully sample his cop thrillers and gialli i've gotta go with Nightmare City and Cannibal Ferox as my fave films of his to date. Carnage-crammed comedy classics both of 'em!

Glad someone else picked up on the Nightmare City/Philedelphia parallel that Umberto draws.

I still think he's a Mafia don. Just look at him. But you gotta love the Humbert.

I saw this interview ages ago and not really understood why people found it funny that he compared the two films. He's only pointing out that the contamination is similar, nothing wrong with that. He doesn't claim that it was directly influenced by it.

That aside, he's one of the best interviewee's around and come out with some right corkers. I remember him saying something like George Romero should be ashamed for shooting footage for the US release of SPASMO (footage I'd love to see, if it still exists). Conveniently forgetting that he shamefully took footage from other movies to make EATEN ALIVE!

I like Lenzi's films and he's a better director than he's given credit. If people looked beyond the Cannibal films they'd find some real gems.

If people looked beyond the Cannibal film

You know what I mean! People mostly judge him by those lame Cannibal films but they should be looking beyond all that and judge him by his early Gialli and police films. They'll see he's done much, much better than CANNIBAL FEROX.

I totally agree. I've still got a very soft spot for Nightmare City too though.

One of his best films is Seven Blood Stained Orchids. An excellent giallo imo.
