One man's meat and all that! It's actually one of my favourite Franco films.

One of the least interesting Jess Franco films i've seen. The plot sounds okay - A woman arrives from England to visit her estranged relatives in a small castle for the reading of her dead father's will. She eventually discovers that they are all undead - but it all feels really tired and listless, lacking the trademark sex and shocks usually associated with the great Franco.

Apparently it had a troubled production and was cut and re-cut , scenes added and then cut again. It really is a s bad as it sounds. Even the presence of the lovely Britt Nichols and Anne Libert from Franco's Daughter of Dracula and The Demons can't save this one.
I have the Screenbound / Black House version which is most likely the shortest one.

I don't know which version is on the Screenbound/Black House version, but on the Redemption/Kino Blu-ray you get the choice of two versions. I think that Franco said that the main version on the Blu-ray was as close to a director's cut as there was going to be, and I think it's a beautifully lyrical film with some wonderfully surreal and dreamlike sequences. The fact that it features two knockouts in Christina Von Blanc and Britt Nichols, with neither of them being shy, doesn't hurt either!

It is just a shame that it could have looked even better. She Killed in Ecstasy looks great though, as does A Virgin Among the Living Dead.

I'm sure that you'll love them all!
As I said go,I’ve seen them all YEARS ago, owned them on Blu,and foolishly got rid of them on one of my clearouts.

I’m looking forward now to watching them in hd!

Are you trying to put yourself off collecting Franco films again?

If you don't have them already, Bloody Moon (1984) and Faceless (1988) are both excellent.

I like Devil Hunter as well. I was impressed by how good the film looked on the 88 Films Blu-ray, especially when compared to the Severin DVD and Blu-ray. I like Oasis of the Zombies as well, although I would never try to convince anyone that it's a great film!
