Night Of Open Sex (1983)

Was going to keep this one til tomorrow, but what the hayride ....

Tentatively this time it's a thriller, what with the old cryptic clue from beyond the grave and that.
Lina goes for gold whilst exercising those thigh muscles ahem. Lovely wee cameo from the Jesus as well this time. He might have been in COP ( ... hmmmm ...) but I didn't notice him cough.

Cocktail Special (1978)

Another traipse around the Marquis' garden of sleaze and depravity ahem.
NSFW
A charming family tale to swell the chest and make the spirits soar
Sing damn you!!
Short and salty, this one goes in the same list as Lorna and Shining Sex

Demoniac (1975)

I initially acquired Demoniac by fluke.

I bought a 10 film horror set from Boulevard Ent, 5 discs of double films. One of the discs had a 12 rated flick on it called Exorcism which turned out to be the complete uncut Synapse dvd of Franco's film with all the extras.

Like a pig in shit i was.

Then a couple of years back i bought the Screenbound release purely so i had the film in a proper case.

Anyway, the film starring the great man Jess Franco himself who plays a former priest, now erotic fiction writer for a Parisian magazine who witnesses a porny style Black Mass show in a cellar bar. Franco believes that both cast and audience are possessed so goes about murdering them in a bold Franco-esq expressionistic rite of exorcism.

To be honest this isn't very good although i always love watching Jess the actor, he always seems so, well, miscast, and Demoniac, Exorcism , L'éventreur de Notre-Dame or whatever the hell it's actually called is no different. It's entertaining enough and there's plenty of nudity from the missus (Lina Romay), Monica Swinn and others but the whole thing lacks tension of any sort especially when it comes to lightin the first ten minutes that the sexy Black Mass is simply an act in front of an audience but Franco is always watchable and he portrays unhinged like only he could.

Esmeralda Bay (1989)

Fernando Rey? George Kennedy?? Robert Forster???

Life is a struggle in Puerto Santo, the regime are all just beastly, and the poor folks ain't gettin' any fatter and the like, so what's a populace to do but Revolt!
Wiiiith just a lickle help from murican "enablers" ahem.
Somewhat more Jess than Bond keep in mind. I love this period. They look like "real" films but sure don't taste the same when you open them up y'all ....
Strange purple tint just added to the fun ....

As I sit here watching A Virgin Among The Living Dead for the 49th (?) time I always marvel at how the ST blasts at me more with each new release
A good thing. Still quite the strangest film.
I grew up watching Ken Loach and that!!

A young girl finds more than closets in her family history.

That poster is still the pinnacle of Exploitation imho.

Girls In The Night Traffic (1976)

Three, er, adventuresses recall the events that led them to their current situation.
Starts soft, then gets a little harder ... ahem.
Eric Falks his brains out to open with. Then we get some punter who does the Louis CK bit
ETC.
They meet other fellow travellers along the way and it all seems to be going a little white slave trade, the girls pull out all the stops to end up victorious.
Ahem.

So, Kim Newman has recorded a comm track for Count Dracula! I already have the Severin disc but will double dip for a Kim Newman comm, general consensus is that it's for an 88 Films release.

He also confirmed tracks for;
The Whip and the Body
A Candle for the Devil
Cool It Carol

Excellent. Are these all UK releases?

I have the Screenbound Blu of The Whip and the Body. I'll have to see if the new release keeps Jonathon Rigby's doc on the film as to double dipping and keeping both editions.

Cool it Carol is one of the best of the British sex comedies of the seventies. I wonder if it's for a possible Pete Walker box set.
