The Best Of Hess

With the sad recent passing of David Hess, it's about time we had a thread dedicated to the incredible work he did in film! So here's a poll to vote for all your favourite Hess films - every role he's ever had according to that good ol' IMDb.

So which films are your favs? What would you recommened to other members?

I know a lot of these titles are obscure or TV episodes, but hey some members may have seen them and can enlighten us!

And be sure to check out the Hess Tribute blog here for Cult Labs' tribute to this legend of sadistic cinema - A Tribute To David Hess (1942-2011)

He's only provides his voice in COLD SWEAT so I'm not going to count that.;)

HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK for me. Followed by Hitch-Hike, Last House and Jonathan of the Bears.

It also seems he had a voice-only role in Bruce Li's The New Game Of Death - learn something new every day.

Like Pete, House on the Edge of the Park, Hitch-Hike, and Last House on the Left are my choices (I haven't seen Jonathan of the Bears).

Smash Cut is worth a mention too - a nice little dark comedy/parody horror film.

I thought Smash Cut was terrible! :s - Maybe I need to rewatch that one.

He was awful in the A Team, playing a airoplane Hijacker, using a real dodgy accent.

Pete 17th October 2011 04:36 PM

SMASH CUT is ok.

B, I don't think you'd like JONATHAN OF THE BEARS - It's a spaghetti western ;)

Aah, just me with love for Swamp Thing?

And Manimal?! Never knew he was in that, what a turd! haha

I haven't seen Smash Cut yet, but I see it has Sasha Grey in it... HOMMANA HOMMANA, I might check it out now.

Demdike@Cult Labs 17th October 2011 05:30 PM

Hitch-Hike for me no contest.

Its easily the best film out of his big three terror roles.

Fallen Angels isn't bad for a later film, but Smash Cut is bloody awful.

Unfortunately Swamp Thing aside they are the only films i own in which he is in. It makes it difficult to really give an opinion of his body of work. 6 out of about 40 isn't really fair.

It's nothing special, but I quite enjoyed it for what it was.

I'll surprise you one day Pete by actively enjoying a spag. western! :D
