Default Island of Death – The BBFC Decision

As you're probably aware, the BBFC have passed Island of Death uncut for the very first time in the UK. Were you surprised by the decision or did you think that times had changed enough that the BBFC would allow such extreme material available for home viewing with an 18 certificate?

Not suprised at all - I said when the film was announced that it would pass uncut and I was right. The film is extreme but it's so over the top that its impossible to be taken seriously.

At that point, I hadn't seen it so was unable to make an informed prediction. Having now seen it, I can't really think of anything that would warrant cutting to secure an 18 certificate so the BBFC got it spot on this time! You can see how the most controversial scenes (goat sex/slaughter, watersports, crucifixion etc) were faked so the BBFC couldn't demand cuts.

It's great to hear this passed uncut. I'll hopefully have a copy in my hand to watch in a few weeks

I used to think it was shocking years ago,but when I saw it again at the GFT on the big screen,it's more to be laughed at!
Don't get me wrong, there's a few disturbing scenes, but some of the dialogue.....
