RIP Anita Ekberg

Hi Shameless fans,

As you may already know, the much-loved, cult actress Anita Ekberg sadly passed away yesterday (11th Jan 2015). As a special tribute Shameless would like to say the following;

Shameless Screen Entertainment is sad to announce the death of the cult Swedish actress Anita Ekberg, who starred in one of Italian cinema’s most shameless movies, the nunsploitation gem "Killer Nun."

Her incredible performance as the sadistic Sister Gertrude, eager to torture pensioners and stalk innocent young nuns saw her become a much loved star in cult cinema. A very different turn from her role in Fellini's La Dolce Vita!

Though La Dolce Vita skyrocketed her to worldwide fame as a 'sex goddess', in an interview on Shameless’ Killer Nun, Ekberg tells of how she hated this label and refused to be type-casted.

And aside from returning to the screen as Fellini's muse in Clowns and Intervista, she refused most roles offered to her afterLa Dolce Vita. Then came along a film based on a real life event in which a Nun euthanised patients under her care in order to rob them and feed her drug addiction..!

Banned in the UK during it's initial release, we'll forever remember and love one of Italy's greatest stars. RIP Anita Ekberg.
