I chose Black Sunday.
Texas, Carrie, Halloween, the Thing and Let the right one in are all fantastic films but in the past i've read a lot about each of these films, also i've listened to disc commentaries.
Texas is probably my favourite horror full stop, just love the atmosphere and dark humour, relentlessness. But like i say i've pretty much covered all the details before.
Black sunday on the other hand is also a big favourite, but i know relatively little about its creation and also would like to read more on Bava.
Oh and Barbara Steele is my all time horror movie female star, gorgeous, dark, intense and intelligent. my what a woman.
Give me a sandwich between her and the original T.v Morticia (at their peak obviously) and you'd never be able to wipe the smile off my face.
Add a bit of Valerie Leon and Madeline Smith in to the mix and life couldn't be bettered.
Im getting carried away here now,
think i need to go lie down in a darkened room.
Erm what was the question again?

I don't know if this is still open, but I'd pick Let the Right One In. It's an intriguing film to me, not just because it's ambiguous in its setting, you don't really know when it takes place, just that it does, yet you know it's not contemporary.

I'm also curious to see if there is anything that may be missed to a British viewer, whether or not there is stuff so Swedish in the film that a non-Swede wouldn't pick up on.

I reckon as well it's full of symbolism which I don't understand unless it's fully explained to me haha!

Hi guys,

Rik's spot on I'm afriad - just been so busy lately! Sorry about the delay in closing this everyone. You all have permission to slap me if you see me. Just not too hard and nothing kinky!

Because of the lateness in closing this competition, as well as picking the grand winner (who wins their chosen book), I have also put everyone who entered into a hat and randomly picked two runner ups. Each of those will get a surprise film to make up for the lateness

And those winners are...

Make Them Die Slowly! - The new Witchfinder General book will be coming your way shortly to add to your impressive collection.

And the lucky runner-ups who each get a great new film are;

Sam

Justin101

Congratulations guys! We'll send you your prize as soon as possible

Thank you all for entering and a huge thank you to Devil's Advocate for providing the great prizes to this competition. Be sure to check out their back catalog of titles - well worth a read for cult film fans!
