As expected there has been a lot of coverage of the Roxy shows that the Vampires played over the last two days. The second show saw Marilyn Manson join the band for 'Eighteen' as well as the return of Tom Morello, Perry Farell and Kesha. Now the shows are done it can`t hurt to list the setlist for the two nights which was as follows:
There's one more Vampires show scheduled for next week at the 'Rock In Rio' festival. In related news it looks like the 'Hollywood Vampires' album will chart well in both the US and UK. At the time of writing it's at #17 in the US and #23 in the UK! Rik likes this.

Continuing with 'Goes To Hell', the third song is entitled 'I'm The Coolest'. It is a semi-spoken song, with a jazz vibe. It's not a bad song, it's just uninvolving According to guitarist Dick Wagner, talking in Vintage Guitar magazine, dated February 1998, the original idea was to have Henry Winkler performing the song, but he turned it down because he didn't want to do anything that would typecast him in the Fonzie image! It was written about his drinking problem, which was getting out of hand, and a year later would result in him entering rehab Alice calls this song his "alcoholic confession" Released as a single in America, Alice has stated that "this was his biggest selling single". The 7th song on Goes To Hell is 'Guilty' and it is my favourite song on the album - it's the source for my signature at the bottom of my posts! It's an autobiographical song. The line, "I'm a dirt-talkin', beer drinkin', woman chasin' minister's son" describes Cooper before he went into rehab for alcoholism. Next up is 'Wish You Were Here', which is not a cover of the Pink Floyd song, but rather a piece of funk rock It is heavily based on an earlier Dick Wagner song entitled 'Stage Door Queen' which was recorded by a band Wagner was in during the early 70's named Ursa Major (which also featured Billy Joel on keyboards). The original is a different song, with different lyrics, but all the key parts of 'Wish You Were Here' are there. It’s the ultimate heavy metal crossover as the original shock rocker meets the original death metal comic book universe! Bizarre nightmares are plaguing Evil Ernie, Chastity and Purgatori, and though the hate each other’s guts, they may have to join the teen monster team called The Chosen to find the one and only Alice Cooper!

Sadly for the first time, there was no tour to promote the album. Although it had been booked and rehearsed, at the eleventh hour, Alice was diagnosed as having 'anemia' [read alcoholism], so he was 'under a doctor's care' and therefore the tour was cancelled. 'I realised that when I woke up, and was vomiting blood, that something was wrong. It might have looked good on stage, but...' A report from the Arizona Republic, dated 1st November 1977 stated: "Alice Cooper, lead singer in the rock band of the same name, is in a New York sanitarium recovering from a bout of alcoholism, a spokeswoman for the entertainer said Monday. A newspaper report here had Cooper, who once boasted he drank more than a case of beer a day to keep fit, admitting himself to a hospital in suburban Westchester County, but the hospital would not confirm the report. Barbara Pepe, the Cooper spokeswoman, said that after failing to overcome his drinking problem through private, outpatient treatment, Cooper decided to take advantage of a break in his schedule to undergo a hospital program of treatment. She said she was not told where he was getting treatment" Apparently, the show would have been a theatrical extravaganza to equal that of WTMN, but other that the fact that it was set within a discotheque setting ['because disco is hell'] and incorporated multi levels stages and the split screen effect, not much is known about it
