Ivar Bjørnson was only 16 when he wrote and recorded this album, it really blows my mind.

I'd like to go to a Mayhem gig, I presume they're playing in the UK too, I hope it's not just London.

If anyone is interested, it seems that one of the 'specialist subjects' on next weeks 'Mastermind' (Friday, 16th December, BBC 2, 8:00pm) is black metal music!

Bit of a low brow subject for a high brow quiz show!

Mastermind isn't really that high-brow, specialist subjects in the past have included things like Doctor Who, Blackadder, Father Ted, Quentin Tarantino, The Sci-Fi novels of Iain Banks, The life of John Lennon, Thunderbirds, The history of Westerns (films).

Anything can be a specialist subject really, you either know it or you don't, and I'm sure that just as few people know about the 1992-1993 new wave of Norwegian Black Metal as they do the intricacies of Wagner's life and times.

...and what makes Black Metal so low brow anyway?
