Been listening to Darkthrone's F.O.A.D. album. I bought it a wfew weeks ago but never listened to it.

Another cracking release. What i like about Darkthrone is they play by their own rules. They don't have a 'sound' as such. What i mean is you can predict what a Marduk album will be like, same with Dimmu Borgir, Dark Funeral... but Darkthrone?

Not really. They come across on this album as 40% black metal, 20% Motorhead, 20% punk, 15% NWOBHM, 3% King Diamond and 2% Guns n' Roses.

As a rule they don't sing about war, God or any typical BM subjects but about Canadian Metal, hiking in the woods, cowboys and indians, then go all glam metal stomp with **** off and die, basically anything they choose.

Basically their diversity keeps them interesting.

Justin101 and Nordicdusk like this.

My 2019 album of the year goes to

mork (1).jpg

This band has been blowing me away since i first heard them. The have the oldschool sound but they are making it their own injecting their own sound into it so straight away you know its Mork. I have spoken to Thomas a couple of times now and he is just a real down to earth great guy who interacts with the fans alot runs the instagram the website and the online merch store making sure things have that personal touch.

Darkthrone keeps the spirit of black metal and they stay true to themselves it feels like they make a record to reflect what they are listening to at the time. Radio Fenriz is the perfect example of this you just never know what crazy obscure stuff he will play. Fenriz just lives for metal and the underground doing everything he can to promote the underground and get these bands noticed. This is why i LOVE Darkthrone and Fenriz and Nocturno.

I like the way they recommend other records to check out. I've never come across that before in a band's cd booklets.
