Agent Steel - Mad Locust Rising

Mad Locust Rising (1985)

You can definitely hear the influence on Darkthrone in this track.

I only have one of their albums (Omega Conspiracy) i need more. I first heard this song on the classic Music For Nations compilation album The Singles Album.

I do tend to like the stuff others see as misfires. The experimental releases from bands. For example loving later Satyricon, also loving Morbid Angel's llud Divinum Insanus album and also thinking that A Grand Declaration of War is the best Mayhem album.

I remember when Grand Dec came out. I thought it was incredibly exciting music. I still do. It's playing at the moment on the stereo.
Not sure why anyone wouldn't like Grand Declaration Of War.

As i said before i like Metallica up until re-Load i just lost interest after that.

The music does sound like stuff on Soulside Journey, they were probably fans, I'd be very surprised if Fenriz didn't know them.

Hate that vocal though, sorry

Just noticed Agent Steel have a new album out in March. It's about their sixth in a thirty five year career.

Agent Steel - The Devil’s Greatest Trick

No Other Godz Before Me (March 19th, 2021)

They are mentioned more than once in the track notes on the Circle the Wagons album.

It's impressive that he still has that falsetto when he's in (at least) his 50's!!

I find the voice is an acquired taste but as with the King i quickly got used to it.

Probably because i played that Music For Nations album all the time and Mercyful Fate's Black Funeral was one of the songs on it along with the Agent Steel track.

Not to mention Metallica's Creeping Death and Jump in the Fire, W.A.S.P.'s **** like a Beast, Wendy O' Williams It's My Life, Exciter's Feel the Knife and All Over You by Rogue Male plus loads of others.

Megadeth are another band who may or may not be allowed on this thread.

Peace Sells and Rust in Peace clearly should be featured but stuff like Risk? Although i really like it, sounds more like pop rock than anything extreme. Their latest music is more extreme than their mid career work i find.

Anthrax...although one of the 'big four' thrash bands, i've never found anything of theirs particularly extreme.

They've made some brilliant albums (Among the Living, Sound of White Noise) but they aren't exactly extreme.

Half the songs on the excellent We've Come For You All sound like Kiss.
