It's looking like Violence Unimagined, the new album from Cannibal Corpse is going to be their first ever to crack the UK album chart and one of very few Death Metal albums to do it.

It's currently sitting pretty at #31. It's bound to drop when all the false streaming stats are added but it'll be top twenty in the physical sales chart which means more nowadays than the actual album chart.

The only other album i can think of was Deicide's Once Upon the Cross which charted at #66 way back in 1995.

How are you enjoying it? Had a few listens through?

Cannibal Corpse ended up hitting #81 on the album chart. Some feat for a Death Metal band in 2021.

More importantly it landed at #9 in the physical sales chart. As in people actually buying a cd, record or cassette rather then simply streaming a song online.

It's ridiculous that folk streaming songs means the album chart is full of greatest hits albums.

Other new entries included The Offspring at #3 and Greta Van Fleet at # 8

Just given a run through the Cannibal Corpse album.

On first listen it's superb. The Youtube stream sounds crap in comparison to the cd.

Surround, Kill, Devour has a genuinely sing-a-long chorus and is sure to be an instant live classic whilst Follow the Blood has some brilliant guitar from Erik Rutan and the orders from Fisher to Fire at Will throughout the song will have an audience going nuts.

Im not listening to it until i get a copy my question is does Rutan have much impact on the sound has it changed in anyway if even just slight tweaks with his style of playing.

Definitely. The track i mentioned - Follow the Blood - has some terrific riffs full of melody, certainly different to the norm for Cannibal Corpse.

This whole album although incredibly punishing is also full of ear worms. Basically i think it will struggle to be beaten by any Death Metal band this year.

With this and Benediction's Scriptures, the last two Death Metal releases i've bought have been phenomenal.
