Carcass with the fake-out blues rock intro, I thought this is interesting but not entirely convinced, then it takes a turn more Carcass and it's a pretty impressive song to be honest! I think the album was released yesterday??

I'm not entirely sure what Carcass are nowadays. Since Heartwork their sound has changed so much. What i've heard off this new record, it's hardly death metal, in fact remove those vocals and replace them with clean ones and it's standard metal.

The blues rock intro was more successful. I think that's the music Bill Steer would like to play. He formed Firebird who were 70's rock and also plays in Gentleman's Pistols who are again classic 70's tinged rock.

I'm not saying Carcass aren't good anymore, they are but i don't think they are death metal.

You could argue that Heartwork isn't really death metal either, I was slightly disappointed when that album came out although I've grown to like it but the two albums prior to that were much better.

Bill definitely wants to be in a blues rock band, but knows that in order to make money in Central Europe only metal comes close. I'm not saying they don't enjoy what they're doing but they had about 15 years of before Surgical Steel and that came out 7 years ago now.

September 19th, 1986 - today, 35 years ago, Megadeth released the 'Peace Sells...But Who's Buying' LP

Quoting from the Wikipedia entry for the album:
"In retrospect, 'Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?' has been regarded as a milestone of the American thrash metal movement. Along with Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' and Slayer's 'Reign in Blood', which were also released in 1986, 'Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?' is considered pivotal in giving prominence to extreme metal.

AllMusic's Steve Huey recognized the record as a notable achievement in the band's history, and called it a "classic of early thrash". Similarly, Chad Bowar of About.com said that the album captured Megadeth in their prime, and recommended it as a "mandatory" recording for the fans of this genre. Sputnikmusic's Mike Stagno named the album a "bona-fide masterpiece" and said it was the main reason why Megadeth became one of the leading acts of the underground scene. Joel McIver, writing in Record Collector, said that the album's main strength was its fluidity, with all songs moving in a continuous, steady stream. According to him, the album was "flip the bird" to the critics who were hostile to this type of music at the time."
