And wasn't Xavier the main champion of this music in those days?

I seem to remember someone else - Dante Bunetto (?), but most of the Kerrang writers were not big thrash fans in the early days

Geoff Barton seemed to be into 'general' metal, but the only other writers who I can remember were:
Dave Dickson - glam
Mark Putterford - AOR/Prog

'We love Metallica. Where's the bandwagon we can jump on'!

Malcolm Dome liked his speed stuff.

The term "Thrash Metal" was first referred to in the music press by Kerrang journalist Malcolm Dome while making a reference to the Anthrax song "Metal Thrashing Mad" in issue number 62, page 8 published on 23 February 1984. Prior to this Metallica's James Hetfield referred to their sound as Power Metal

I remember reading an interview with Scott Ian, when he was talking about 'moshing', and thinking to myself "what the hell is he on about? What the hell is 'moshing'?"

Going back to the mags in the eighties.

My favourite was Raw magazine which ran from 88 - 95.

It took all the best writers and rock journalists at the time and put them in one mag.

Although back then both Kerrang! and Metal Hammer were essential reading too.
