Katatonia - Brave |
Katatonia never got better than Brave Murder Day to me. |
I've only really sampled some of their later songs, this album came out around the time I started looking elsewhere for my music (away from metal) and by the time I came back there were just too many albums  |

Sodom - Outbreak of Evil http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ-yZ1Ph768 In The Sign Of Evil (1984) I know Venom are the supposed originators of Black Metal but listening to the Lords of Chaos album in the car this afternoon this Sodom song came straight after Venom's Black Metal in the track listing and for me this is the sound of pure Black Metal more so than Venom. Lords of Chaos is one strange listen. You go from Robert Johnson to Crowley chanting to Coven, Sabbath and Mercyful Fate. Then there's this by Mick Jagger from Anger's Invocation of my Demon Brother. I had to turn it off it was doing weird things to my head sat surrounded by it in the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8HvmTRavNo |

Anyway not a fan of what I heard of the other two bands too Metalcore for my liking the vocal are annoying. Oh well Dying Fetus and discovering a new band I'm all in :ghostclap: |
New Darkthrone video out today. Track is called Caravan of Broken Ghosts. Can't pot video off my phone so check it OWWWWWWWT. No point asking what I think it's obvious :skull: |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA-NJk0ofho Love that riff that kicks in just after the three minute mark and then sporadically throughout the song. Also love the video. Stunned they could afford to do it. Fenriz actually sounds like Tom G Warrior on this song. |
I was excited for the video thinking they'd done something special, not realising you might have been being a bit sarcastic  I made a video like that when I accidentally hit record on my phone and didn't realise for 8 minutes  I like the song though, does the album come out of Friday or is it next week? |

Nice, the last album was really good :D |
The new Darkthrone album is excellent. Listened to it through four or five times now and i love it. The production is top notch with the guitars razor sharp and the drums booming in almost a Satyricon mixed with Black Sabbath style. There's so much going on under the main riffs too with instruments such as melotrons and synths. The pacing is mid in general which makes the faster parts all the more exciting, the same goes for the galloping riffs which punctuate the album. However i'm not actually sure this is a Black Metal album as such, but it is a Darkthrone album and in my view one of their best. |

Seriously tho I know you weren't overly keen on the last album so I'm glad to see this getting such high praise. |
