The word legend get thrown around a lot when a musician or an actor dies but it's very rarely the actual case. People feel it's a fitting tribute to call someone a legend in death but when they were alive people knew or cared little about them it just gets said out of habit. But Lemmy is an actual Legend.

Growing up the appeal of Metal and Rock music was the element of danger involved that's what grabbed me first people that were not just playing the music but living the music it felt real not an act. As time has gone on Metal and Rock has become watered down people posing on stage and then sitting back stage sipping on tea or sparkling water. Lemmy on the other hand sang it played it and lived it. There was no lie with Lemmy he was his own man doing it all his own way. While other hellraisers of Metal and Rock got older and mellowed out it was Lemmy that kept the danger and spirit of rock alive and real right up until the end.

Lemmy a true Legend not once in a life time but once ever.

Stunned by this, and in a state of disbelief.

I don't think never been the biggest Motörhead fan (and don't think I've ever listened to Hawkwind), but loved some of their songs, his appearances in Troma films and, especially, in The Young Ones.

'Ace Of Spades' is one of those songs that everyone knows and loves

You just need to hear the opening "dun-da-dun-da-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun" and you instantly know what it is

Wonder how many bands who are playing tonight will be playing it in tribute

I remember watching my brother trying to play it on Guitar Hero Metallica because, if I remember correctly, because of the speed, it was the only bass track which was difficult to do well!

What sad news wake up to, I have seen motorhead a few time but in 1986 I liked Motorhead but did not love them, then I went to Monsters of Rock and they blew me and everyone else on the bill away, totally awesome and something I will never forget. R.I.P Lemmy, you truly were a Rock God!

And because Lemmy would want to laugh in the face of death, here are the muppets.

I know he wasn't well of late, but this still came as a shock. He was one of those figures you thought would go on forever. Him and Philthy must be making some noise up there! A rock legend. RIP.

What makes me sad is the fact Motorhead weren't a tribute act to their bygone days.

The band were still relevant and creative and making some of their best albums ever.

Most recent album, released a couple of months ago, Bad Magic, charted at number 10 - Their highest placing album since 82's Iron Fist.
