I've been listening to his SPACE ODDITY album in the car. I love his 12 string acoustic guitar songs from that era. Wonderful.

RIP...

He was by far my favourite artist of all time. Unbelievable and other worldly talent is gone.

He provided a large part of the soundtrack of my youth. Gutted.

Bowie really polarized my friends at school back in the 70s, the girls thought he was a sexy Motherf****r but the guys were of the mind that he was too glam, and as I was in the U.S. at the time my friend Stephanie went to his concert in Seattle and at the age of 15 she said he caught her eye and she screamed Beatle style, for me both Bowie and Elton John in the mid 70s were producing albums like Ziggy and Yellow Brick Road that blew me away as a fellow Brit and they were on my record player over and over again, though I'm undoubtedly an old git there is nothing like that today. (doubt if people will be listening to 1 direction or Little Mix in 40 years time)

One of the very true legends of modern culture has passed, R.I.P.

Sad indeed.

As an actor I rated him highly.

The Hunger
The Man Who Fell To Earth and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence being my favourites.

Songwise,Space Oddity,Starman,Modern Love,Absolute Beginners and Young Americans are tops.

I don't know what all the backlash about the Jagger duet is all about-wasn't that bad-apart from the outfits!

RIP Major Tom

All excellent performances and brilliant films – The Hunger is criminally overlooked. He really was a man of many talents.
