Also great fun to play on guitar (and bass when it comes to Ancient Mariner)

In fact, most Maiden songs are fun to play, which is why we have 5 in regular rotation in our set: The Trooper, Run to the Hills, Wasted Years, 23:58 and The Number of the Beast.
Either The Trooper or Run to the Hills is played at all our gigs these days

Back then they were exceptions to the rule. Now every song seems to be ten minutes long. Short sharp shock songs like The Wicker Man are few and far between.

Yeah, the epics were usually left until the end of the album (not including Phantom of the Opera), now the shorter songs are at the start of the album

Excellent list Rik.

I'd be thinking about Territory, Under Siege and Sepulnation as well.

Notice how all those tracks are from the Max Cavalera era of the band, no matter how hard I try I just can't get into any of the albums with Derrick Green as vocalist, except their covers EP
