Your Favourite Lyrics This is the place to post your favourite lyrics. No more explanation needed.* --- * Mabye... you could add why you particularly like the respective lyrics. I wouldn't mind a few philosophical debates as well, but then I'm a bit mental. Let's get started, but excuse me for a moment... I have to put some lard on the cat's boil. In the meantime, you can have some pie (don't forget to let me know if you want to have a slice without so much rat in it)... ... and enjoy a nice song... |

A personal favourite. So many late 60s / early 70s songs have fantastic lyrics. Have you seen my baby On the avenue? You know she's driving me crazy With the funny things she do I seen her with the milkman Ridin' down the street When you're through with my baby, milkman Send her home to me The original... Randy Newman - Have You Seen My Baby (1970) ... and the excellent Flamin' Groovies cover version (1971). |

What a good idea for a thread. Whilst not quite the same Screamin' Jay Hawkins' laugh in I Put A Spell On You always puts a shiver up my spine!! I digress etc .... Will have a think ....

I've always loved the first verse of this. The song Dead by Dawn from Deicide's self titled debut album. Book of the dead, pages bound in human flesh Feasting the beast, from the blood the words were said I am unseen, dreamt the sacred passage aloud Trapped in a dream of the necronomicon It then becomes demon like and unintelligible. Apologies that it's not deep and meaningful or harks back to futilities in love. (Or perhaps it does ) I just like it. T'was the first death metal song i ever liked. |

One of the best songs about Vietnam. The focus is on the personal effects of warfare. Well I knew a guy in high school Just an average, friendly guy And he had himself a girlfriend And you made them say goodbye Now he's buried in the mud Of a foreign jungle land And his girl just sits and cries She just doesn't understand The Bob Seger System - 2 + 2 = ? |
