Rush: 'Permanent Waves' 40th anniversary. Pre-order available at Amazon UK: 2 CD version - £13.99 3 Vinyl LP version - £65.89 Super Deluxe Edition - £117.59 "Rush‘s 1980 album Permanent Waves will be reissued for its 40th anniversary on May 29th, 2020, across three physical editions, including a six-disc super deluxe edition. All feature new ‘reimagined’ artwork by original designer Hugh Syme and the two-CD deluxe edition sees the 2015 remaster on CD for the first time. The bonus disc features unreleased live tracks from various stops on the Permanent Waves 1980 world tour. These live tracks are newly mixed by the band’s longtime producer Terry Brown. The content on the two-CD set is also released as a 3LP vinyl package with a bonus live track A Passage To Bangkok (Live in Manchester). However, you can buy a Permanent Waves super deluxe edition box set which features the two CDs, the three vinyl records and comes with other ‘stuff’ too, such as a 40-page hardcover book with more reimagined artwork from Hugh Syme, unreleased photos from the band’s archive and an 12,000 words of exclusive sleeve notes. There are other ‘collectibles’ in the box set. The album was recorded at ‘Le Studio’ in Quebec, Canada (where Bowie recorded Tonight), so one of the items is a 20-page ‘Le Studio’ notepad (with their letterhead design) along with two replica tour programmes, three band member replica backstage laminates, a 24”x36” double-sided poster showcasing the original album cover, photos of each band member and three Neil Peart handwritten lyric sheets for ‘The Spirit Of Radio,’ ‘Entre Nous’ and ‘Natural Science.’" Track Listing: CD 1 01. "Whitesnake will issue a new collection of remixed and remastered songs as The Rock Album, the first in a series of planned compilations around specific themes. The songs on The Rock Album were originally issued between 1984 and 2011 and are pulled from six Whitesnake studio albums. The 16-track selection includes ‘Love Ain’t No Stranger’, ‘Judgement Day’, ‘Still of the Night’, ‘Give Me All Your Love’ and ‘Here I Go Again.’ This new collection also plays loose with the definition of ‘Whitesnake’ by including ‘She Give Me’, from David Coverdale’s 2000 solo album, Into the Light. According to Coverdale, “all the songs have been revisited, remixed and remastered. Some have been musically embellished where my co-producer Michael McIntyre, my new mixer Christopher Collier and I felt it appropriate or necessary to bring out the best in these songs.” An example of this is that The Rock Album includes a remixed version of ‘All Or Nothing’ (from Slide It In) that features additional guitars pulled from the original multi-track tapes, plus an alternate arrangement of ‘Tell Me How’ from Forevermore. The collection features the debut of ‘Always The Same’, a previously unreleased song that was recorded during the 2019 sessions for Flesh & Blood. The Rock Album is the first release in the ‘Red, White and Blues Trilogy’. Forthcoming collections will be Love Songs (red) and The Blues Album (blue, obviously!). The Rock Album is pressed on double white vinyl, so clearly the other compilations will follow suit with their respective colours. Frank Zappa / The Mothers 1970 Pre-order available at The SDE Shop - £44:00 Release date: June 26th "Zappa Records/UMe will next month issue The Mothers 1970, a four-CD Frank Zappa box set which features 70 unreleased tracks from the short-lived 1970 line-up of the Mothers of Invention. The band during this period last around seven months and was Aynsley Dunbar, George Duke, Ian Underwood, Jeff Simmons, and Flo & Eddie (aka Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman). This new box set features over four hours of unreleased music, with the first CD featuring unheard studio sessions from Trident Studios in London England (with engineer Roy Thomas Baker) and the remainder offering historical live performances mostly captured by Zappa’s own tape recorder (a UHER recorder). All recordings were sourced from their original tapes discovered in The Vault and digitally transferred and compiled by Travers in 2020. Some tracks were mixed by Craig Parker Adams and the collection was mastered by John Polito at Audio Mechanics. The Mothers 1970 is presented in a clamshell box and includes a booklet and a button.
