"UMC will issue The Essential 10cc on their budget Spectrum Music imprint on February 5th, 2021. The three-CD set brings together an impression 54 tracks.

10cc scored 11 top ten UK hits in the 1970s and the creative force of the band was famously driven by two internal writing teams: the ‘arty’ and experimental Kevin Godley & Lol Creme and the more poppy and commercial Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart.

Godley and Creme left in 1976 and enjoyed further success as a duo and notably went on to forge a very successful career as promo video directors. Stewart and Gouldman continued, until 1983’s Windows in the Jungle album after which there was something of a hiatus.

There was a brief, but unsuccessful, reunion with Godley and Creme in 1992 (the ...Meanwhile album). That pair didn’t return for the final album, 1995’s Mirror Mirror, which in truth was more like an uneasy fusion of Gouldman and Stewart solo albums."

Pet Shop Boys / Discovery: Live in Rio / Super Deluxe Edition

"First time on DVD and CD for 1994 concert film

The Pet Shop Boys‘ concert film, Discovery: Live in Rio 1994, will be released as a 2CD+DVD set in April.

The concert film marked the Pet Shop Boys first visit to Brazil at the end of 1994, and was issued on VHS and laserdisc in 1995.

The set list includes classic hits including ‘West End girls’, ‘Suburbia’, ‘Being Boring’, ‘Go West’, ‘Rent’ and ‘Always on my mind’, as well some interesting covers, including a rendition of Blur’s ‘Girls and Boys’ (which the PSBs remixed at the time of release).

The show was filmed by Brazilian director Roberto Berliner with a local TV crew in December 1994 in front of an enthusiastic Rio audience. It was shot on SD video, so to “keep the integrity of the original” the decision was made to restore and present the concert in its native SD format on DVD, rather than upscaling to HD for Blu-ray.

A new booklet features candid on-tour photographs, an interview by Chris Heath conducted during tour rehearsals and an exclusive on-tour diary by Neil Tennant. This release marks the debut of this set on CD as well as DVD. There is no vinyl edition.

Discovery: Live in Rio 1994 will be issued on 30 April 2021"

'Toyah: The Blue Meaning': 2CD/1DVD Expanded Deluxe Edition - Available for pre-order from Cherry Red Records direct - £20:99

Release date: May 28

• Cherry Red Records is delighted to announce the newly remastered and expanded release of Toyah’s 1980 album “The Blue Meaning”.

• Produced by Steve James with arrangements by Steve James and ‘Toyah’ the band (Joel Bogen, Pete Bush, Toyah Willcox, Steve Bray and Charlie Francis), the album reached number 1 on the UK Independent Album Chart and charted in the main UK Top 40 album chart in June 1980.

• Includes the early original version of ‘It’s A Mystery’ by Blood Donor feat Toyah Willcox that a ‘new’ line-up of Toyah ‘the band’ went on to record and enjoy their first hit single with in 1981.

• The album features the ultimate fan favourite ‘Ieya’ considered a signature song by the band, which was also released as a single.

• This album also includes ‘Blue Meanings’, ‘Mummies’ and the psychedelic ‘Spaced Walking’ for which Toyah’s vocals were recorded after inhaling helium.

THIS PUNK/NEW WAVE CLASSIC ALBUM IS BEING RE-ISSUED IN TWO FORMATS AND THIS EXPANDED DELUXE SET FEATURES:

• 2CD+1DVD digipak with a fully illustrated 24-page booklet containing a brand new introductory note from Toyah, plus rare and unseen imagery including album cover outtakes taken at Wykehurst Place, a gothic revival mansion in Bolney, Sussex.

• This expanded edition features 27 remastered bonus tracks including single mixes, live tracks, rarities and unheard demos. Amongst the 20 previously unreleased tracks are the final recordings made by this band line-up including ‘Silence Won’t Do’ and ‘Jack & Jill’, as seen being recorded on the 1980 ITV documentary “Toyah” and have been long awaited by fans for forty years. The very first demo of ‘Angels & Demons’ recorded at Eel Pie Studios, an Alternate Vocal take of ‘Blue Meanings’ with the previously unheard original longer song outro and three tracks recorded live at the ICA London all make their release debuts.

• A sleevenote by Toyah’s archivist Craig Astley with input from Toyah Willcox and Joel Bogen which for the first time chronicles the creation of the album and reveals the recording origins of the bonus material.

• Includes a DVD (NTSC/Region Free) containing three brand new features with Toyah Willcox; an interview about the album/period, a track-by-track album commentary plus an exclusive acoustic three-song session of songs from the era – all filmed October 2020.

• The DVD also includes rare archive BBC TV performances of ‘Mummies’ and ‘Danced’ from Friday Night, Saturday Morning (November 1980) available on DVD for the first time ever.

There’s another Motorhead live album coming, because 13 official Motorhead live albums just isn’t enough / Classic Rock

"Due in April, Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin is another reminder of Motorhead’s unique charm

It’s been five years since the release of the most recent stand-alone Motörhead live album (2016’s Clean Your Clock) so the news that there’s another one on the way is just fine and dandy with us.

Motörhead’s December 5, 2012 gig at the Berlin Velodrom on the King Of The Road tour, was one of their biggest-ever headline shows in Germany, and now you too can partake of that enchanted evening’s entertainment with the release of Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin on April 23 via Silver Lining Music. For those eager to dive straight in, patience, dear friend, but we’ve a taster for you in the form of a storming take on Over The Top.

The performance was captured by Herwig Meyszner, who has also produced concert films for the likes of Saxon, Exodus and Kreator. It finds the ’Head in typically uncompromising form, and serves as a worthy companion piece to the audio recording.

Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin track list:

1. I Know How to Die
2. Damage Case
3. Stay Clean
4. Metropolis
5. Over the Top
6. Doctor Rock
7. String Theory
8. The Chase Is Better Than the Catch
9. Rock It
10. You Better Run
11. The One to Sing the Blues
12. Going to Brazil
13. Killed by Death
14. Ace of Spades
15. Overkill"

A combo by the look of it - "The event was thankfully recorded, and on April 23rd, Silver Lining Music will proudly present Louder Than Noise… Live in Berlin on CD with bonus DVD, double vinyl, and Limited Edition Boxset."

It seems that the box set version is a 12” Box [not available for customers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria], containing:
- CD Album with Bonus DVD in Digipak
- Double Black Vinyl Album, 180 gm, in Gatefold Sleeve
- Motörhead Branded Passport Cover
