I don't own any of the books, but this list is from one of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear before You Die books, which is updated every year and only includes soundtrack albums if they are all by one artist (such as that for The Virgin Suicides). If the order seems a bit screwy, they are listed in chronological order.

I was chatting to a guy in the pub and turns out he was the guitarist with The Zombies. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out who he was and then the penny dropped. You never really expect these people to roam around amongst us mere mortals - but they lead pretty normal lives, apparently.

Although, in all fairness, I was very drunk at the time and he could've been telling me porkies.
