My first album listen of the year was this classic, not a bad track on there, which I can't say for the rest of Slayer's output, before or since! 28 minutes and 58 seconds of pure classic thrash! \m/

I got 'Reign In Blood' when it was first released, back in 1986

The youngsters on the forum probably don't realise just how ground-breaking it was at the time. There really was nothing like it

A true classic

Was another 6 years before I bought it, my first experience of Slayer was their set at Monsters of Rock '92, still got cassettes of all bands from that day (I don't think the line up has been topped since!).
I was aware of them before though, due to seeing knock off t-shirts alongside the Maiden ones I used to get my parents to buy me on holidays in Spain
I would have loved to have been old enough to have been a metal fan in 86 though, what a year for classic albums!

I saw them in 1991, at the Portsmouth Guildhall, and they are still the only band I have seen where I have literally been exhausted about 20 minutes into the set!

They were faster than on record and incredibly loud, but the sound was crystal clear - again, that is something that other bands have never been able to manage

I've been checking out some live vids with Gary Holt filling in (now permanently) for Jeff Hanneman, and I honestly can't think of anyone better to replace him, what an amazing player! Typical with You Tube, the keyboard warriors commenting don't agree with me though! Definitely gonna check them out next time they play Leeds, I was gigging myself last time

It was the classic line-up I saw - Tom Araya, Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (when he still had hair) and Dave Lombardo

Some of the best drumming you'll hear on a 'pop' record!
