If you've heard any 60's hits by the Beach Boys, the Monkees, Mamas & Papas, Petula Clark, Jan & Dean, Scott McKenzie, Nancy Sinatra, Phil Spector productions, Simon & Garfunkel, Richard Harris (yep, Macarthur Park), 5th Dimension, Sonny & Cher, Andy Williams, Glen Campbell, Herb Alpert, even the Byrds (Mr Tambourine Man) then you've heard Hal Blaine.

He even drummed on 70's recordings by the Partridge Family (someone had to), Steely Dan, Neil Diamond and the Carpenters.

California Dreaming by Mamas And The Papas and I've heard of The Monkees but have never been a fan. A bit before my time mate!

Hal was indeed on California Dreamin. A bit before my time too (it was a hit the year I was born).

Groovy, I've been listening to most of those 60s artists mentioned recently so I guess I've probably sampled some of this guy's percussive talents. The name certainly rang a bell.

He was part of a crack team of LA session players known as The Wrecking Crew. The others being Larry Knechtel & Joe Osborn (and on occasions Tommy Tedesco & Glen Campbell).

Does he still have that mime artist dancing about behind him?
