Location: Childhood home of Billy Idol - Orpington
September 19th, 1968 - The Who entered Studio A at IBC Studios in Portland Place, London, to begin the recording sessions for their new album, which at the time was known as 'The Deaf, Dumb And Blind Boy'. Producer Kit Lambert had booked the studio from Mondays through Fridays from 2:00pm to 10:00pm each day. Among the many songs which were recorded in these first few days was a version of Mose Allison's 'Young Man Blues', which was already a long standing part of the live set. Pete had an idea that he might incorporate the song into his rock opera but, as it turned out, the song didn't fit in with the overall concept. Instead, the band considered releasing it as a stop-gap single, but again this idea was shelved. Eventually the song appeared on vinyl the following year in 1969, on the Track Records sampler LP 'The House That Track Built'
