I've just given a spin to the Venom CD 'Black Metal' - probably the first time I have played it in 30 years!!
It stands up quite well. Most of the songs are still catchy. 'Sacrifice' and 'Heavens On Fire' are a bit tedious, but the others are enjoyable in a not-particularly-subtle-sub-Motorhead noise fest
What did surprise me was how quaint the band sounded. What was once the most extreme sound I have ever heard on record now seemed old fashioned. I could understand everything Cronos sang and Mantas *could* have been a great guitarist
