This mash-up shouldn't work, but it does and it's brilliant.

Epica - Dance of Fate

Consign to Oblivion (2005)

Been on a bit of an Epica rush today. (Absolutely nothing to do with seeing a recent pic of Simone in leather and fishnets).

I've got a couple of their albums but never really been a fan, however listening to this their second album on headphones has been a new experience and i've possibly seen the light.

I bet Tuomas from Nightwish would have killed to compose the music for this song.

I really like Simone's voice but I just can't listen to a whole Epica album. I just had Consign to Oblivion playing but turned it off after around 5 songs, they just don't seem to stand out.

I was listening to the three new songs they've released from the upcoming album and liked them all. They seem to have done away with the choral harmonies and simply have Simone and a growler ala Lacuna Coil.

Consign to Oblivion is only their second album, the other one i have is their third record. I don't know but surely they'll have progressed as other bands have done in the 15 years since.

I was also listening to new Sirenia material from their upcoming album. I really like that. They've added an electro edge to things.

Problem is the price. I can't justify paying £15 for a single digi pack cd with nothing extra whatsoever. HMV are charging £16.

Napalm Records often seem extortionate.
