Do you have the same tastes or do you only listen to one kind of music?
Most of my early music tastes were influenced by family, so i got into The Beatles and 60's music from my Dad and Goth and Alternative from my brother, then as i met new friends i was introduced to other types of music, Ambient, Techno, Metal, Rap, Jazz and although i don't always get heavily into a scene i usually find some stuff that i enjoy.

I just keep hold of what i like and jettison the rest, although once i like something it tends to stick with me, I still listen to stuff i enjoyed growing up.

I was always watching a lot of films from an early age so have always heard stuff on soundtracks, and have got into a lot of stuff that way, i really like a lot of Giallo soundtracks at the moment.

Now with the internet i often look for a song on youtube and end up listening to a load of stuff randomly from there.

So basically if i'm all for giving stuff a listen and if i like it then it'll end up on a playlist somewhere, i have many for different types of music depending on my mood.

I have met people who also listened to their parents' music. And that's okay. This is part of growing up. We look at our parents, we want to be like them, see what they like, and copy them. And accordingly their music.
