For me there were five outstanding albums from 1996 which were played and played and played.

Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow
Kiss - Unplugged
Type O Negative - October Rust

But the winner for me has to be

R.E.M. - New Adventures in Hi-Fi

R.E.M. - Departure.



In the years since Nick Cave's Murder Ballads and Moonspell's Irreligious have also become classics.
