Currently streaming the debut solo album from the greatest bass player in rock, Iron Maiden's Steve Harris, due out on Monday and I must say it's really good, nothing like Maiden and very reminiscent of Slash's solo efforts.
Steve Harris British Lion - Hear the album Thursday 20th!

This link will only work until midnight tomorrow

That sounds quite impressive.

The bass is quite high in the mix.

Some of those songs would be good as Maiden tracks. I'm a bit bored with their 9 min prog dirges now. Give me Prowler, Be Quick or Be Dead, The Wicker Man, Aces High any day

Well Harris is credited as producer ha ha!

I've got to admit, I too am getting a bit bored with their Rush impression now, there's only so far they can go in that direction so hopefully the next album will be stripped down to the basics of the golden era(1983-1989)

I wish they'd ditch Kevin Shirley as well, Maiden albums never seem to have much oomph to them since he's been producer.

Yeah, they should drag Martin Birch out of retirement, or give me a call, I'd do it for nowt

"The Chosen Ones" sounds really great - reminds me a bit of Boston, though.

Greetings!

PS: The mix is fantastic - I always love it when the bass is prominently featured. That's also one of the reasons why I absolutely hate And Justice For All....

PPS: "Eyes of the Young" is a horribly schmaltzy song...

And Justice For All is a fantastic album, musically. Sonically it's shite, zero bass as you say, horrible sounding guitars and a typical example of Lars overplaying everything. I wish they'd either remix/master it or re-record it with Rob playing bass, fat chance of that happening.
Incidently, I recently pre-ordered Kirk Hammetts new Horror memorabilia memoir for a nice price of £15, looks really interesting. Expect plenty of pics when it arrives!

Too Much Horror Business : Hardback : Kirk Hammett : 9780810996595

It's actually gone down in price since I ordered it.
