May I recommend the new Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti album Before Today. I don't normally get excited about a lot of modern music but this is something different. Hauntingly nostalgic with elements of classic late 60's-80's pop but delivered in an eccentric, off-kilter manner. Fantastic song-writing - Ariel has rare ability to blend sometimes diverse musical passages into a cohesive whole and end-up with memorable pop songs rather than a disjointed, pretentious mess. Of course, the deliberately low-fi production and weirdness may be off-putting to some people but thats very much part of the charm for me.

I'm also currently blowing my biscuits to: Dio-era Sabbath, Jap proggers Happy Family; Chrome Hoof; and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci.

I was there. I thought it was a bit odd, no-one knew if they should clap after a song or not. Great goody bag from K-Scope, though!

Awesome! Yeah good goody bag (loved the syringe pen) and what a great live set to watch but was a shame about some of the people talking the whole way through it. I had 3 guys in their 50's/60's talking the whole way through as if they were just at home on the sofa. I mean seriously, they were acting like a group of teenagers. Peeved me off to say the least.
Was great to meet the band and get their DVD signed so all in all a great night out for me. I ordered the Blu-ray which HMV say they sent out to me today so looking forward to seeing it in Full HD.

Currently Listening to:

Ramesses - Take the Curse

Hooded Menace - Never Cross the Dead

Hooded Menace are a Finnish Doom/Death metal band heavily influenced by the Blind Dead movies (hence the name). There is a storming cover version of The Return of the Evil Dead theme on this album.

Ramesses are a UK band hailing from dorset made up of ex members of Electric Wizard. Very much Doom metal with a healthy dose of Sludge/Black metal thrown in with lots of horror samples including Friday the 13th, Dracula A.D. 1972 & The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue to name but a few.

Although I've seen Ramesses countless times live, Hooded Menace have only just put a live touring band together (the albums have only two people performing on them). But both bands are appearing at the Live Evil festival in Camden in October. My ticket has been puchased!!!

Went to the boot fair today to find any bargains. No films or games, but I did pick up Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar and The Killer's Sam's Town
