I can appreciate what they bring to the table but they were on planet rock radio today in my car when they announced them as headlines, and felt like parking up and doing the goosestep down the street.

Tom Araya can sing about butt f*cking Christ with an Anne Summers crucifix but it will never sound as harsh as the German lingo!

Rammstein are a brilliant headline act. I've seen them twice.

Trust me they'll blow Sabbath away and will give Maiden a run for their money.

My worry is they'll fill up the rest of the bill with modern screamy bands when they should be going for acts like Scorpions for example to make it truly special and a proper send off to Sabbath.

Of course that's just my opinion. Others may prefer Bring Me The Horizon and such like.

From what I've seen of them live on t.v they look very powerful and capable just not my cup of tea. The pyrotechnics I saw on one video was awesome, they should have a ball at Donington.

Just saw this Dem and thought of you. Never knew they had such a back catalogue?

German industrialists Rammstein celebrate their 21st anniversary with their first-ever vinyl box set, containing all six of their studio double albums so far, plus a bonus ‘Rarities’ double LP…

rammstein2-e1445425330954.jpg

While their fans patiently await a new album from these purveyors of Neue Deutsche Harte (New German Hardness) – Rammstein’s last studio release was back in 2009 – Universal Music release this comprehensive set in good time for Christmas.

It includes the following double LPs, all remastered by Svante Forsbäck, pressed on heavyweight 180g vinyl and housed in gatefold sleeves with original artwork:

• Herzeleid* (‘Heartbreak’, 1995)
• Sehnsucht* (‘Longing’, 1997)
• Mutter (‘Mother’, 2001)
• Reise, Reise* (“Travel, Travel’, 2004)
• Rosenrot* (‘Red-Rose’, 2005)
• Liebe ist für alle da (‘Love Is For Everyone’, 2009)*
*First release on vinyl

rammstein2

All bar their debut album reached number one in the German charts (Herzeleid fell short heartbreakingly short at number six), with Liebe ist für alle da achieving the greatest international success peaking at 16 and 13 in the UK and US charts respectively.

This new box set is bolstered by bonus double LP, Raritäten (‘Rarities’) including non-album songs taken from singles, fan editions etcetera, plus, most notably, a previously unreleased version of the song Los (‘Less’) in which Rammstein wittily describe the experience of being in Rammstein and criticisms of their work (sample lyrics: That should be forbidden / It’s witless / What they’re trying here / So tasteless / How they’re making music / It is hopeless / Senseless / Helpless /They are god… less.

Is anyone into the new wave of classic rock ?

Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Halestorm, Temperance Movement, Blackberry Smoke, We Are Harlot etc and which albums do you recommend?

I have the first two BSC albums and Shinedown's The Sound of Madness.

Cant recommend Blackberry Smoke album enough, 'holding all the roses', cracking album Dem that has so many catchy tunes and good song writing. Very talented band and looking forward to seeing them next month.

Temperance movement are also top notch and I was very impressed by their debut album. Only reservation I have is their new single off their new forthcoming album in January sounds very much the same as the first album, a little too much for my initial liking but will hold judgement until I get it. They have a sound not dissimilar to The Faces
