We sometimes play that too, in a medley with Satisfaction

The first headliner for Download 2018 has been announced

Ozzy will close the festival on Sunday, June 10th

By my reckoning, this will be the 5th time he has played the festival as a solo artist (1984, 1986, 1996, 2002, 2018) plus another three with Sabbath (2005, 2012, 2016)

First time he’s headlined on his own though.
I hope they don’t announce Maiden as a headliner, because Bruce let slip the other week that he’s been practicing singing Run to the Hills in his kitchen, which makes me think another greatest hits tour is on the cards for next year. I’m not willing to pay a ridiculous amount of money to stand in a muddy field watching a load of generic metal bands all weekend, I’d rather go to an arena

That'll be next Nov / Dec.

The way Download has worked in previous years is to have a classic rock / metal headliner to close the show on the Sunday, in this case Ozzy, and two other headliners from more recent years - the likes of Muse or Rammstein.

I can't see them having two major headliners like Maiden and Ozzy...although you never know.

To me Download aside from the classic rock / metal headliner is getting stagnant.

How many times do the likes of 5 Finger Death Punch, Trivium, Slayer and so forth have to play before people get fed up?

It became like this for me in the mid 00's with the likes of Korn seemingly on every year.

Yeah, there’s a bunch of people I know from the pub we rehearse in that go every year, and have done for years now, they mainly go for the experience and not the bands, which I think is a bit pointless tbh

As for the prospect of another Maiden tour next year, I’ve been having a nosey on one of the many Maiden forums and found a couple of posts saying there’s definitely a date booked for Italy next summer and it’s probably gonna be a tour based around the Legacy of the Beast mobile game. Also, Bruce told a Scottish reporter that he wasn’t allowed to say anything about a tour but “can I let you know in December?” so that means the announcement will come by the end of the year.
Hopefully Leeds is on the cards again and not a couple of shows at the O2 in London or ****ing Twickenham again (still pissed about not seeing them play Rime of the Ancient Mariner live in 2008!)!

Yes and no

It might be the first time he has headlined Download, but he was top of the bill for the Monsters Of Rock festival in 1986 (supported by The Scorpions, Def Leppard, Motörhead, Bad News and Warlock) and also the Ozzfest in 2002 both of which were held at Castle Donington
