Loving the new Metal Hammer.

It's an 80's edition and features articles on the likes of Maiden, Sabbath, Doro, Manowar, Morbid Angel, Discharge, The Mission, Metallica, Anvil, The Great Kat and more.

Best of all there's a Carpenter Brut ten track compilation cd too which is currently making the house shake.

Plus a large double sided poster featuring a bunch of classic 80's album covers - Motorhead, Motley, Venom, Kreator and more.

I think it will be.

There's also a best songs time line for each year with mini write ups.

It was quite exciting flicking through it.

The posters are all A4 size and will fit nicely in an A4 frame. I don't usually bother with posters but i can see me displaying them over the year in my summer house.

Since i subscribed to five issues for a fiver i've been impressed by it.

A couple of years ago i bought one and thought it quite poor but it's since had a layout change (which i didn't know until i subscribed as it's always in shops in a plastic bag) and it generally appears to be a better read.

There's a hell of a lot of Black Metal featured too. It used to be confined to a section at the back called Subterranea but that's no longer there and BM is everywhere.

Not so much in this issue as it's mainly 80's but as i mentioned in an earlier post we do get a feature on 80's Morbid Angel.

In what must be one of the strangest team-ups imaginable, I once saw a band called Strange Girls at a festival in Gosport in the early 90's

The band consisted of Toyah Willcox (lead vocals), Kim McAuliffe (rhythm guitar, lead vocals), Cris Bonacci (lead guitar), Enid Williams (bass, vocals) and Lydie Gallais (drums)

They played a mixture of Toyah songs and Girlschool songs, but it has to be said...the mixture of 'It's A Mystery' and 'I Wanna Be Free' played in a heavy metal style just didn't work!
