Obviously I got in touch with the box office to get a refund and I was told that they don't send refunds through the post, but you have to visit the box office in person to get your money back I was living in Portsmouth at the time so I had to let it go! Back then, £3:00 was a lot of money to lose I still like the band though, and think that their debut album is a classic piece of glam / sleaze rock

I got into them after seeing them on that legendary Kerrang! compilation video a couple of years after the debut was released. |

I first saw them as headliners on the first edition of the CH4 live metal fiasco 'ETC' That episode opened with Motorhead, followed by The Lords Of The New Church, Magnum and Madam X. I loved their sleazy look and went out a got a copy of the album I was really excited when the dates were announced. My mum wasn't impressed when I got my ticket to see them and she gave a huge sign of relief when it was cancelled! Looking back, I suppose it was a bit daft for a young teenager full of bravado from Portsmouth to hop on a train and go to the ol' smoke for a rock concert on their own! Oh - I made a mistake in my last post - it was 1985 and not 1984!

1985 would tie in with the release of the Kerrang video i first saw them on. Something i never knew until just now is that the W.AS.P. video on that vhs - L.o.v.e. Machine - was directed by Halloween II director Rick Rosenthal. The poster on the bedroom wall for a film called Bad Boys which was also directed by Rosenthal. |

Paradise Lost
It annoys me still that Sweetness wasn't on Icon, luckily I have the 12" single for Embers Fire that it's on so I can still play it. The band explain in an interview on their latest live album/bluray, they'd already cut the album and were already on tour and Music For Nations told them they needed an extra song for the EP (Seals the Sense) and they had nothing, so they wrote it in the dressing room at a venue in Germany and recorded it soon after. It's ended up being a fan favourite.

Not listened to this one for ages, I usually go for the Ultra Doom of the first album It's a shame that they split up.
