But does he have big balls?

It's looking like Judas Priest are heading for their highest ever album chart placing. Currently the band are at number two having sold double the amount of the act at # 3.

1 Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine (18,885) [9,292 physicals, 8,905 streaming, 688 downloads] *

2 Judas Priest - Invincible Shield (10,136) *
3 Bleachers - Bleachers (5,484) *
4 Liam Gallagher & John Squire - Liam Gallagher & John Squire (3,150)
5 The Weeknd - The Highlights (3,138)

Their previous best was number 4 for British Steel way back in 1980.

Their only other top 10 album was Firepower which hit number 5 in 2018.

They should comfortably beat the 11,801 sales achieved by Bruce Dickinson's The Mandrake Project, which charted at number three last week.

Judas Priest started their long awaited UK tour yesterday (March 11), with a concert at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Omitting 'one-off' festival appearances, (Bloodstock in both 2018 and 2021), this was their first UK appearance since the Redeemer Of Souls tour in 2015

Setlist
SPOILER:
Intro: War Pigs (Black Sabbath song) [a dig at the Ozzy fiasco maybe!]
  • Panic Attack (Live debut)
  • Rapid Fire
  • You've Got Another Thing Comin'
  • Metal Gods
  • Lightning Strike
  • Love Bites (First time live since 2015, first time played live in the UK)
  • Breaking the Law
  • Saints in Hell (First time live since 2019)
  • Trial by Fire (Live debut)
  • Turbo Lover
  • Invincible Shield (Live debut)
  • Beyond the Realms of Death
  • Victim of Changes
  • Screaming for Vengeance
  • The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown) (Fleetwood Mac cover)
  • Painkiller

Encore:
  • Hell Bent for Leather
  • Living After Midnight

From what I am led to believe, the concert over-ran so the band had to drop both 'You Don't Have to Be Old to Be Wise' and 'Electric Eye' from the chow

Before Priest, Saxon (who are a band that never seem to be away from the UK stage) took to the stage

Setlist:
SPOILER:
Intro: The Prophecy
  • Hell, Fire And Damnation (Live debut)
  • Motorcycle Man
  • Sacrifice
  • There's Something In Roswell (Live debut)
  • And the Bands Played On
  • Madame Guillotine (Live debut)
  • Power and the Glory
  • Fire And Steel (Live debut)
  • Dallas 1 PM (For this, the crowd were asked 'what do you want to hear', and given the choice of 'Dallas 1 PM' and 'Crusader')
  • 747 (Strangers in the Night)
  • Denim and Leather
  • Wheels of Steel
  • Princess of the Night

Again, from what I am led to believe, Saxon were the band of the evening, and were a lot better than Priest

Opening the evening were rock veterans Uriah Heep who had to play a truncated set due to technical difficulties

Setlist
SPOILER:
Save Me Tonight (Live debut)
Grazed by Heaven
Hurricane (Live debut)
Gypsy
Easy Livin'

NOTE: Setlists have been 'spoilered' to keep things a surprise for anyone who is going to see the tour at a later date

Thanks for that. I'm spoiler free at the moment. I have to be careful on Youtube!
It's come around quick. I can't believe it's next week.
Wembley Arena for me.

Definite Nightwish vibes here. You know, Proper Nightwish when Tarja and Marko were in the band. ;)

Invincible Shield easily achieved their highest placing to date at number two.

Quote:

Fifty-five years after they first convened in Birmingham in 1969, fifty years after their introductory album Rocka Rolla failed to chart and 44 years since their previous top placing, veteran heavy metal campaigners Judas Priest rack up their 18th chart album, fourth Top 10 entry and highest-charting set to date with 19th studio album Invincible Shield scorching to a No.2 debut on consumption of 18,001 units, while easily topping the physical sales chart (17,396 sales). Currently a quintet, their ranks still include guitarist Glenn Tipton (78), bassist Ian Hill (72) and vocalist Rob Halford (72), all of whom were in place prior to their recording debut, although Halford did go solo for a while. Invincible Shield also debuts at No.7 in Japan, while in Germany it is their 23rd chart album and first No.1 dethroning fellow UK heavy metal legend Bruce Dickinson?s The Mandrake Project.

It is the first instance of British acts debuting at No.1 for two weeks in a row in Germany since Dickinson?s band, Iron Maiden toppled Motorhead from the chart summit in 2015.
People may want to listen to the likes of Ariana Grande but they don't actually want to buy her music.
