Sounds like Aces High - The Nicko McBrain remix.

The drums sound really high in the mix. Glad the album is taken from more than one show.

I hope the release sounds better than that.
I listened to the track through headphones and it still sounds bloody awful.

Strange to think that the last time Van Halen played live in the UK was 1995 - when they were the support band!

I always wanted to see Van Halen but never got to.

The nearest i got was seeing David Lee Roth at Manchester G-Mex touring the A Little Ain't Enough album. Warrant supported.

Also seeing Dave at Donington in 88.

I saw DLR in Portsmouth in 1994

The setlist was:
  • Big Train
  • Panama
  • Experience
  • She's My Machine
  • A Little Luck
  • Oh, Pretty Woman
  • Just a Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody
  • Sunburn
  • Beautiful Girls
  • Dance the Night Away
  • Night Life
  • Just Like Paradise
  • Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love
  • California Girls
  • Ice Cream Man
  • Jump

Can't remember who the support act was

It was a good gig all round. Dave was riding round the stage on a huge inflatable microphone at one point. I was a bit disappointed at the setlist as i recall. Not enough of his Skyscraper songs and too many non VH covers. However seven VH songs was as near to the band as i could get.

Warrant were very good too. Cherry Pie was huge at the time and went down a storm live.

According to setlist.com he played -

You Really Got Me
Baby's on Fire
Panama (Van Halen song)
A Lil' Ain't Enough
Lady Luck
Easy Street
Unchained (Van Halen song)
Shoot It
Beautiful Girls (Van Halen song)
Just a Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody
Hammerhead Shark
Hot for Teacher (Van Halen song)
Tell the Truth
Just Like Paradise
Yankee Rose
Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love (Van Halen song)
California Girls
Ice Cream Man (Van Halen cover on the VH album)
Happy Trails
Jump (Van Halen song)

Fun Fact for you all. I bought the 7" single of Cherry Pie and the first Iron Maiden album on cassette from the Our Price in Bolton on a shopping trip with my mum.

He couldn't sing to save his life, but as an entertainer he was one of the best. Because Portsmouth Guildhall is a smallish venue, we didn't really get anything in the way of theatrics, but we did get the comedy patter. I remember that the main Dave rap was about the first time Van Halen came to England, and the Bob Marley poster!

I agree. Panama, Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love, Ice Cream Man and Jump were fun, but I was disappointed he didn't do Hot For Teacher or Yankee Rose. Can't remember who the guitarist was, but I don't think it was Steve Vai
