Strange(r) things do happen.
It was a good bit of the show I will admit, it's not every day you watch a TV episode that has a good 5 minutes of Master of Puppets while the characters fight off demon bats

Funny enough, I was just walking through the park by my flat an hour ago and two teens had Master of Puppets playing on the portable speaker

Parkway Drive - The Greatest Fear

Darker Still (9/9/22)

I don't own any of their music but this seems a million miles from their original Metal Core sound.

There's an upcoming Pantera reunion tour coming up featuring singer Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown.

Zakk Wylde, Dimebag's friend has been confirmed as the band's guitarist with Anthrax sticksman Charlie Benante drumming.

Naturally social media is divided on the subject with Anselmo's 'white power' antics from years ago brought back to the fore as well as others saying the band shouldn't play without the Paul brothers.

On the other hand Pantera were a hugely popular band and there will be a significant number of newer fans who will have never have heard their songs played live.

Personally i thought Pantera were fairly boring and one dimensional with their mid paced chugging songs. Far too many of them.

I bought a second hand best of for the car a couple of years ago and all i could think off was how every song sounded exactly the same.

I've never really been a fan, I couldn't listen to a whole album, but I do like the odd song here and there. This Love and Cemetery Gates for example.

I love Pantera they were responsible well Phil was anyway for me finding Darkthrone and so finding Black Metal . Phil was trying to push Pantera towards more of an underground sound but the Paul brothers weren't feeling it. Phils vocals on the last two albums were edging towards a harsher style too. His Housecore records really pushes the underground too and he was hanging out with a lot of the big names in Black Metal too.

I dont see the point in this reunion i mean Phil always plays Pantera songs with the Illegals and he did some with Super Joint Ritual so why call it Pantera its never ever gonna be the same without Dime and Vinnie.

I always thought every album sounded different shows what i know

We are never going to love the exact same bands. I have all Pantera's albums from Cowboys to Reinventing the Steel and there are some great songs such as Cowboys from Hell, Walk, F*cking Hostile, God Damn Electric, Drag the Waters and The Great Southern Trendkill but i stand by that too many songs to my ears are slow to mid tempo chugging dirges.

My favourite Anselmo recordings were Viking Crown's second album and the Southern Isolation ep. Sadly i sold the Viking Crown cd years ago but thankfully still have the very rare Southern Isolation cd.
