I never compared The Clash to The Sex Pistols...
I was merely saying that I wouldn't put The Clash in the Punk genre.

did i say you did? reads statement again. no, i think I said i wouldnt compare etc.
this is because first and foremost the clash were musicians, so obviously they would break away from the limiting loud fast rules bollocks that stymied punk in the first place. like Lydon did, initially anyhow, with Pil.

Speaking as someone who personally knows the Sex Pistols members, and was a good pal to Joe from The Clash, I would say that when the whole Pistols Ethos became the same, and was showing no signs of moving forward musically, John formed PIL to do just that, even though i adore tHE pISTOLS TO DEATH. The Clash started as Punks, but realised there was more to it and moved on, (I HATE most of Sandinista, but thats my opinion.)

As for SID AND NANCY, it is well acted, the script sucks big time, it is factually and continuity incorrect, The music is great, I look on it as a fantasy film
